Send Messages to Parents
This guide explains how to send messages to parents.
Create Message
Via the Messages Section
- Click on Messages in the sidebar menu
- Click on Send New Message
Via the Child Detail Page
- Open the children overview
- Click on a child
- Click Send Message -- the message form opens with the child pre-selected
Compose Message


1. Select Children
Select one or more children. You can:
- Click individual children
- Use Select all / Deselect all
The message will be sent to the parents of the selected children.
2. Message Details
- Subject: Brief description of the matter
- Message: The actual text (Markdown is supported)
- Message type: Choose from:
- Informal: For information only
- Reply possible: Parents can reply
- Reply required: Parents must reply
- Deadline (for "Reply required"): When parents should reply by
- Attachments (optional): Add files (PDF, images)
3. Send
Click Send. With multiple children, the message is sent as a batch message -- each set of parents receives their own copy.
Manage Your Messages
In the messages section, under the Own Messages tab, you can see:
- All messages you have sent
- Read status (how many parents have read the message)
- Parent replies (if requested)
- Send date and any edit indicator
Edit Message
You can edit your own messages as long as they have not been read by all parents:
- Open the message
- Click Edit
- Change the content
- Click Save
Colleague Messages
Via the additional tabs in the messages section, you can also view messages from your colleagues:
- Group colleagues: Messages from colleagues in your group
- Location colleagues: Messages from colleagues at your location (if enabled)
This view is for overview purposes -- you can read your colleagues' messages but not edit them.
