Send Messages to Parents

This guide explains how to send messages to parents.

Create Message

Via the Messages Section

  1. Click on Messages in the sidebar menu
  2. Click on Send New Message

Via the Child Detail Page

  1. Open the children overview
  2. Click on a child
  3. Click Send Message -- the message form opens with the child pre-selected

1. Select Children

Select one or more children. You can:

  • Click individual children
  • Use Select all / Deselect all

The message will be sent to the parents of the selected children.

2. Message Details

  • Subject: Brief description of the matter
  • Message: The actual text (Markdown is supported)
  • Message type: Choose from:
    • Informal: For information only
    • Reply possible: Parents can reply
    • Reply required: Parents must reply
  • Deadline (for "Reply required"): When parents should reply by
  • Attachments (optional): Add files (PDF, images)

3. Send

Click Send. With multiple children, the message is sent as a batch message -- each set of parents receives their own copy.

Manage Your Messages

In the messages section, under the Own Messages tab, you can see:

  • All messages you have sent
  • Read status (how many parents have read the message)
  • Parent replies (if requested)
  • Send date and any edit indicator

Edit Message

You can edit your own messages as long as they have not been read by all parents:

  1. Open the message
  2. Click Edit
  3. Change the content
  4. Click Save

Colleague Messages

Via the additional tabs in the messages section, you can also view messages from your colleagues:

  • Group colleagues: Messages from colleagues in your group
  • Location colleagues: Messages from colleagues at your location (if enabled)

This view is for overview purposes -- you can read your colleagues' messages but not edit them.
